Rail Fence Quilt Block

BACK: The Quilt Blocks

NEXT: Log Cabin Block

Rail Fence
Rail Fence Block

The Rail Fence quilt block goes together quickly and easily. That's because it's made from three rectangular strips. Rectangular shapes are simple to sew because they have straight seams.

Rectangles are one of the most commonly used shapes in quilting. That's why we're working with them in our first lesson. You'll learn about other popular shapes in upcoming lessons.

If you're like me, you appreciate simple graphics and instructions. That's exactly how I designed these lessons. I want you to "get it". So, on that note, let's sew our first block!

What You Need

Seam allowance included in measurement of the cut fabric.

Step 1
